Phil Jenkins

Phil is SDAV Hot Rods President and all time nice guy – if you need something and he has it, it’s yours. The Hot Rods are described like a big family and Phil is the epitome of that… He can be found offering advice, sharing parts, calming tempers, checking on cars and bantering with his fellow drivers.

This year will see Phil race his 51st year! As a young man of only 16 he chose the SDAV Hot Rods because in his words “they are the best” and despite many of an opposite opinion, they go in the right direction. (Hot Rods race in a clockwise direction rather than anticlockwise). In 50 years you can only imagine the experience and knowledge he has accrued in that time.

He is a sports fan but football and speedway are his greatest loves. One ring of his doorbell at home tells you who his footy team is as it plays the Western Bulldogs anthem. During footy season he will be seen with an earphone in his ear listening to a game, checking the scores on his phone with either a smile on his face or a shake of the head.

Phil loves his Chinese food – especially satay and dessert is ice-cream. He loves a good, cold Crown Lager. His sponsors are P+S Automotive and himself.

His biggest rivals are everyone that races and his most respected competitor is anyone on the track because you have to respect anyone you race against. Great sentiments from a great man.
